STORY

Guarantee of individuality.

The USM modular furniture system is one of the most successful classic systems in interior furnishing design. It is interesting to note that this system is also available with a perforation developed specially for USM. This also emphasises the refined and succinct effect and the unrivalled diverse character of the system from USM.

The products from the long-standing company USM U. Schärer Söhne AG, whose head office is in Münsingen near Berne, Switzerland, are part of the high-quality standard workplace equipment all over the world: Haller, the classic USM modular furniture system was designed by Paul Scharer in cooperation with Prof. Fritz Haller and is now even exhibited in the New York Museum of Modern Art, one of the world's best-known museums. In 2001 MoMA purchased the most important mainstays of the USM modular furniture system for its permanent architecture and design department. The history of the origins of the Haller modular furniture system from USM shows that it is in good hands in this environment. It was designed in 1963 according to the model of the USM production building which had recently been constructed at that time. The origins of the USM modular furniture system therefore do not lie in furniture design. The elements of one of the most famous office furniture systems, which combines elegance and technical perfection, were developed from architectural features and structures.

The ingenious concept is based on three main elements: a ball, steel connecting elements and panel elements. They are normally made of powder-coated sheet steel. However, USM occasionally use perforated panels, i.e. perforated sheets, in highly exclusive and individual room designs.

USM modular furniture systems are famous for finding a perfect solution for every individual requirement. It is also naturally an aesthetic decision to use MEVACO perforated sheet blanks as panel elements. But there is also a practical reason for this. Covers made of attractive perforated sheets are almost ideal, especially in places where it get very hot. Perforated panels are preferably used, for example, as radiator covers or for covering items of equipment such as projectors or computer hard drives. The range of applications in inexhaustible because the customers of USM include banks, car showrooms, doctors and hospitals.
