Of course components need to be stable and function properly. But design now plays an important role when it comes to agricultural, construction and commercial vehicles. In the air and contaminant grilles for our customers MAP SpA, which are used in radiator bonnets for excavators, for example. In order to combine perfect function with aesthetic form, the right know-how is required in addition to deep drawing technology. And this is exactly where SOLVARO comes in.

A new challenge.

During the deep drawing process, perforated metal behaves differently from solid metal. We analysed the process in detail in the past and performed a variety of tests. A fact that the entire sector has recognised. This is the reason why MAP SpA asked to become our customer – with completely new requirements and confidence in our ability and skills.

Aesthetics and function combined.

Maximum air passage, sufficient filter function and protection against contaminants are all standard. But for the production of its air and contaminant grilles, MAP SpA added a requirement: they also wanted an impressive design. But the metal needed to be just as stable. Regardless of the forming process, the perforations had to have a honeycomb shape. This was the only way to guarantee top performance. In addition, we were easily able to achieve the required air permeable surface of 80% with a perforation of Hv 6 – 6.7.

The major advantage of the special forming process also played a role. Despite the challenge of having three recesses in a close row, deep drawing also resulted in excellent 3-D forms here. And with them, the outstanding aesthetics required –seamlessly. Another decisive advantage of deep drawing is that perforated sheets can be produced to exact dimensions, whether for a radiator bonnet or other applications.

Installation-ready to the customer.

For later, efficient final installation at the customer location, the outer contours of the grille were perfectly harmonised to the installation dimensions. Then we made the fine adjustments. By giving it a suitable surface treatment, SOLVARO made sure that the product had the required corrosion resistance. The air and contaminant grille destined for the radiator bonnets were KTL and powder coated. In short: When a product leaves SOLVARO, it is installation-ready to reduce installation time for our customers.
