With the new TA 230 articulated dump truck, Liebherr has not only launched a real powerhouse for transporting spoil over rough terrain. The design was also immediately convincing and earned the 30-tonne dumper the prestigious Red Dot Award for high design quality with its progressive design language.
Solvaro is also pleased with the resounding success of the TA 230 – after all, with the front grille and the side grilles, they were able to supply several components with a distinctive look and the highest functional requirements.
The key to the joint success of the project was the transparent cooperation between the suppliers and the OEM. From the beginning of development to series production, the open exchange promoted a solution-oriented way of working and produced ideas from which all partners benefited.
HIGH STABILITY THANKS TO 3D Forming
In order to reliably supply the powerful TA 230 dump truck with cooling air, the free cross-section of the front and side grilles had to be increased to 80 %. The challenge lay in forming narrow, long and geometrically complex perforated sheets, where some processes reach their limits. Solvaro therefore decided to use 3D forming by deep drawing to manage the demanding balancing act between design and stability requirements. An Hv 6-6.7 perforation was used.
The project success at a glance
- Smooth cooperation between Liebherr, Solvaro and other supply partners
- Free cross-section of front and side grilles increased to 80 % with Hv 6-6.7 perforation
- Maximum stability thanks to 1.20 mm material thickness and special 3D forming
- Complex geometry with strong forming realised in deep-drawing process
